My Big Brother

Created by Mandy one year ago

He was such a great big brother to have.  He taught me so much throughout my life; the offside rule, the rules of cricket, why Geoffrey Boycott should be made a 'Sir" and the best music to listen to (definitely not Elvis for him), all the important things in life.

Andrew was kind, generous and loving.  His love for Angela and his family was always evident.  He never missed my birthday or family event, always sending a card or something just to let you know he was thinking about you. He would welcome new family members with open arms always finding something to talk to them about and taking a real interest.

There is far too much from nearly 60 years for me to write down here but from my early years i remember Andrew and friends playing 'Man from Uncle' or 'Thunderbirds' in the garden, disappearing off to the the 'Rec' on bikes. At Gosforth I remember the endless games of football on the road outside or playing 'Risk' the dining room table that went on for days and days.  I remember  the cricket matches in the village sitting with Angela whilst Gosforth's answer to Sir Geoffrey was at the wicket....  The rides out in his first car - the mini' teeth rattling and noisy but how cool was it to have a big brother with a car!!  How cool it was to have a big brother that was better than anyone else had.

I miss you Andrew. I miss that cheeky smile, that little sparkle in your eyes, your laugh, your speedy walking!  It was a privilege to have you as my brother and i'll love you always.
